About the Process and the Artist.
OUR PROCESS: What you can expect.
During our consultation about your project, I listen to your
wants, wishes, needs, obstacles, goals and vision.
Upon our follow up, I will present several mural or specialty finish samples that reflect your vision with creative tailored solutions for you. An estimate clearly defining the project scope, accommodations and scheduling requirements.
Under contract, I work closely with my clients, maintaining communication throughout, ensuring that both parties have a shared understanding on projects goals. Should questions arise, I will address them promptly ensuring a great experience from start to finish.
The type of and location of the projects have different requirements. Such as painting in a kitchen or a commercial space, and how it may be a bit of a disruption to your daily routine. This is due to the nature of the work, requiring careful surface prep, removal of wall decor, drapery and likely furniture moved. Drying time, occasional blocking of project areas, I am always conscientious to ensure the process is as smooth as possible to minimize impact and temporary inconveniences these projects may bring.
Regardless of the budget, whether large or small, decorative finishes and murals leave a powerful and lasting impression.
I strive to make every project an authentic expression of the client's personality or their brand. I pride myself on exceeding your project expectations, by providing outstanding outcomes that create timeless works of art.
MEET THE ARTIST: Laurie Gorman
My journey of creating art began when I could first hold
a crayon. What started as a childhood obsession, has led to over
30 years of experience, exploring and experimenting with a diverse array of mediums, design styles and techniques. Developing a comprehensive, interdisciplinary understanding of their properties, unique challenges, and creative possibilities.
Allowing me the freedom to tailor my artistic approach, ensuring no matter the medium, or the canvas I can create artwork infused with my imagination that resonates with each of my clients visions throughout. Making each commissioned piece of artwork an exciting new adventure.
Although I love creating all things related to art, I've refined my specialization down to my two favorite artistic mediums.
1st.) Being intricate specialty, decorative & faux finishes, I love seeing and bringing forth the incredible transformations they produce in a variety of settings and various surfaces.
2nd.) Is my deep passion for murals, because they are a powerful medium for creative expression, evoking a wide range of emotions and visual storytelling. They transcend age, profession, background and culture and take your imagination to any destination.
Whether it's specialty, decorative or faux finishes, playful, immersive, and interactive murals. For home or businesses, I pride myself on delivering exceptional quality work, reinventing ordinary walls and wasted spaces into impressive works of art.

MURALS
Murals maybe the doorway to first introduce creativity and imagination to new life, and the little's as they grow.
But they're not only for nurseries, they're made to
be enjoyed by all.

SPECIALTY, FAUX & DECORATIVE FINISHES
I specialize in each of these beautiful and transformative painting techniques,for a variety of
surfaces and clientele.
Each style and technique are well known within the painting industry and most times clients interchange the terms thinking they're all the same. Allow me the pleasure of breaking down the nuances of each category. Although similar, each have their own distinct style and features.
SPECIALTY FINISHES:
Is a broader term that encompass various painting techniques, to include Decorative & Faux finishes. Specialty paint finishes add texture, depth, and visual interest to their surfaces. This category includes techniques like Strié, color wash, leafing and gilding to name but a few. This finish style goes beyond Decorative or Faux, because it utilizes unique materials, textures and effects in their finishes such as:
- Metallic: Reflective shimmery effect.
- Pearlescent: Subtle iridescence for a soft glow.
- Textured: Sand, grit or plaster for a tactile effect.
- LusterStone: Troweled material with shimmer.
- Glitter: Embedded sparkle for dramatic effects.
- Rust of Patina: Achieves a weathered oxidized look.
FAUX FINISHES:
Faux (French for "false") specifically refer to painting techniques that replicate the look and appearance of natural materials or textures, such as marble, granite, stone or wood.
Some familiar faux finishes include:
- Aged/distressed: Worn, faded or chipping finish.
- Concrete/Plaster: Industrial or rustic aesthetic.
- Granite/Marble: Mimics natural texture and veining.
- Fresco: Aged, cracks, crumbling, paint and plaster.
- Venetian and Old World Plaster :Textured and polished marble like effect. Heavy plaster textures, both can be glazed to enhance their details.
DECORATIVE FINISHES:
Whimsical, fun and unique finishes typically on furniture or home decor accessories, which are all about playfulness, creativity and unexpected details. Featuring bold colors, unique textures, quirky patterns and imaginative elements that make a piece feel lively and full of personality.
For example, take grandmas desk or cabinet that you love, but its does not match your homes color theme or style. That is the perfect piece to give new life with a decorative finish and style of your choosing.
Key Features of Decorative finishes:
- Re Purpose furniture by updating it to fit your style or give it a funky & fun new flair to make it a focal.
- Bright & Unexpected color combinations: Think fushia, turquoise or lime green contrasting or ombré.
